I joined Bengal Institute of Technology & Management as its Director on the month of November’08. It was during this short duration of a few months when I closely worked with ever enthusiastic & distinguished faculty members, career futuristic young students and always ready to help administrative staff members, I realize, understand and come to know  that this institute has an extraordinary intellectual and innovative edge over others institutes of its kind in the country. The institute has been successfully running 4 years B Tech programmes in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering and Civil Engineering for the last seven  years. In 2011 – 2012 we have proposed to introduce B.Tech in Chemical Engineering & Construction Technology. These are in addition to 2 years P G programme by name Master of Business Administration and newly approved three M.Tech programs in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The academic exercises so far performed by the institute have created an outstanding & persisting impression about it in the mind of the knowledgeable society at large. These were all possible because of the creative and solid understanding of the problem of academics and suggesting & implementing solutions by rigorous teaching of curriculum with conventional means along with ICT, providing Internet support for 24 hours in institute & hostels, organizing seminar & conferences with support from other institutes & industries on regular scale & basis, providing rich laboratories & library both central & departmental level and using feedback systems. BITM strives to unparallel extracurricular activities and games & sports. The students in recent past stood in highest positions in several competitions at national level institutes & universities.   Recently all out steps have been initiated for laudable research and developmental projects like TIFAC, EDC and System development. With sponsorship of AICTE, the institute conducted in last two years two faculty development programmes and one International Conference. Few faculty members are having international collaborative research with ICTP, Italy and e-lab of University of Switzerland. Thus I have high hope that the tremendous potential that this institute posses will undoubtedly make it an excellent institute of national importance in near future.
	Besides being approved by AICTE & affiliated with WBUT; BITM has been recognized by UGC under 2f category.
